About the Artist

Francesca Maria is a Los Angeles-based wedding photographer specializing in documentary and editorial wedding photography, blending digital and film imagery for couples across California and destinations worldwide.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, I’ve spent more than a decade photographing people, endlessly inspired by the nostalgic texture of film, the natural landscapes of California, and most importantly, the beauty of human connection.

I find myself drawn to images that can transport you somewhere — a sun-drenched afternoon in Puglia, an old travel photograph, the feeling of a place you may not have been but somehow remember. But it’s always more about the people within those images — their emotions, their connection, and the way they become part of the atmosphere around them. That’s what I’m looking for on a wedding day — the honest, in-between moments that bring you back to the feeling of your wedding day.

Documentary storytelling with a cinematic eye

With a fine arts degree in filmmaking from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and a professional background in the fast-paced world of the entertainment industry, I studied the art of storytelling from every angle—from writing and directing, to cinematography, editing, and producing. This unique foundation continues to shape the way I approach a wedding day, from the preparation well before it begins to the final gallery long after the day is over.

Blending intentional storytelling with technical expertise, I photograph weddings with the instincts of both a documentarian and a filmmaker: anticipating emotion, quietly observing, knowing when to offer direction, and knowing when to step back — so that you can remember not just what your day looked like, but what it truly felt like.

Something Sentimental

I’ve held a camera in my hand for longer than I can remember.

Even from a young age, I found myself drawn to the in-between moments, not only the photographs where everyone was smiling directly at the camera, but the quieter frames that revealed something more honest.

The desire to create has always felt innately intuitive to me — something I have been following, in one form or another, my whole life. This naturally led me to documenting weddings, bringing together my love for photography, storytelling, and human connection. Now more than ever, I appreciate the weight of a photograph — especially the ones from my own family archives. The ability to return to a memory, a moment in time, a feeling…

In today’s digital age, we document our daily life more than ever before — but your wedding is the one day that asks you to be truly present. To be fully immersed in the emotion, the love surrounding you, the joy, the tears, and the fleeting moments that pass too quickly to hold onto yourself.

When you choose a wedding photographer, you are not only inviting them into one of the most intimate days of your life — you are also trusting the way they see the world to preserve the memories of your wedding day. Your memories, through their lens. What a photographer captures is shaped by the experiences that formed them and the way they observe the world — and that is what makes it art.
